Mendoza is located in central-western Argentina, at the foot of the Andes Mountains on the border with Chile. It is known for its mountains, forests, canals and ditches and of course, for its wines. Founded in 1561 by Spanish Pedro del Castillo.
We left the hotel to explore the city and discover his past, stroll through the 5 main plazas. Plaza Spain, with its original tiles there. Plaza Italia, where in February, made the "Celebration in Piazza", with meals and dances. Plaza Chile. Plaza San Martín, with the monument to General and finally, Independence Square, central square where they concentrate the most important activities of the City.
Then we went to the pedestrian Sarmiento, with its endless cafes, where they meet each Mendoza noon before leaving for the "siesta". We follow the main road to the Alameda San Martín, classic ride of our grandparents.
Go back to the time of the Foundation and headed toward the historic city, which was destroyed by the earthquake of 1861, so it was rebuilt and moved west, where now stands.
We continue our walk to the stunning Parque General San Martín, entering through the elegant gates brought from France. The park covers an area of 900 hectares of which has 500 forested Mendocino faithful representative of the effort, becoming a desert oasis of Mendoza.
Ascend to the traditional Cerro La Gloria, where the monument to General San Martin. From there we will see the city of Mendoza. Descend to view Frank Romero Day Amphitheatre, where they celebrate the "National Harvest Festival."
When we finished the city tour we head towards the area of Lujan de Cuyo to visit two of the most renowned wineries of Mendoza. In the first winery is also made lunch and after a while of distension depart for the second winery to tour in its entirety and taste the wines there.
At the end of the journey back toward the airport to fly back to Buenos Aires and round a day to none.
